This Privacy Policy explains how information is collected, used, and shared by our mobile application and website (collectively, the "Services"). Our Services are designed for families and comply with the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) and Apple’s App Store Review Guidelines for apps in the Kids and family categories.
By using our Services, parents or legal guardians consent to this policy. If you do not agree, please discontinue use of the Services.

1. Information We Collect
We design our Services to collect the minimum information necessary to provide a safe, family-friendly experience.
Information provided by parents/guardians
- Parent account details (for example: email address, password)
- Child profile nickname or first name, age range or birth month/year (never precise birthdate required)
- Parental consent records and communication preferences
Information collected automatically
- App and device information (for example: app version, operating system, language, approximate region/country)
- Usage information to improve quality (for example: screens visited, stories played, session length)
- Crash and performance diagnostics
We do not collect precise geolocation, do not track users across apps and websites, and do not use advertising identifiers for behavioral advertising in child experiences.
Information we do not collect from children
- We do not allow children to provide personal contact information without verified parental consent.
- We do not permit user-generated public profiles for children.
- We do not collect precise location, contacts, photos, or microphone recordings except when strictly necessary for a specific feature with parent approval.
2. How We Use Information
- To operate and provide the Services (for example: playing stories, saving progress, language settings)
- To personalize content by age range or preferences set by parents
- To maintain safety, security, and integrity of our Services
- To fix bugs, analyze performance, and improve features
- To communicate with parents about their account, updates, or important changes
3. COPPA Compliance and Parental Consent
We comply with COPPA and collect personal information from a child under 13 only with verifiable parental consent. Our parental consent mechanisms may include:
- Email-plus verification (sending a confirmation link to the parent’s email)
- Adult gate screens and age verification flows
- Requiring a parent account before creating child profiles
Parents can review, update, or delete their child’s information at any time by contacting us at support@ori.kids. We will take reasonable steps to verify the identity of the requesting parent.
4. Data Sharing and Third Parties
We do not sell personal information. We share information only as needed to operate the Services or when required by law.
Service providers
We may share limited information with trusted vendors who help us run the Services, such as:
- Hosting and content delivery (for example: Cloudflare Pages or Vercel)
- Databases and secure storage (for example: Supabase)
- Analytics and crash reporting (privacy-focused, aggregated usage only)
- Email delivery to communicate with parents
These providers are contractually required to protect data and may only use it to provide services to us.
Legal and safety
We may disclose information if required by law or to protect the safety of users and the integrity of the Services.
Advertising
We do not display third‑party advertising to children or use behavioral advertising. If we ever offer advertising for adults, we will provide clear controls and disclosures.
5. Data Retention
We keep information only as long as needed to provide the Services, comply with legal obligations, or resolve disputes. Examples:
- Parent account data: retained while the account is active
- Child profile and progress: retained until a parent deletes the child profile or requests deletion
- Diagnostics and logs: retained for a limited period for troubleshooting
6. Data Deletion and Your Rights
Parents and guardians have the right to:
- Access the personal information we hold about their child
- Request correction of inaccurate information
- Delete their child’s profile and associated data
- Withdraw consent and stop further data collection

7. International Users
Our Services may be used internationally. Data may be processed and stored in the United States or other countries where our service providers operate, with appropriate safeguards in place.

We use reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards to protect information. No system is 100% secure, but we work to protect your family’s data and continually improve our security practices.
9. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will notify parents by email or through the app. The “Last updated” date at the top will reflect the latest version.
